- Hands-on ownership is preferred; however, day-to-day unit management is not a requirement although it is desirable that the day to day manager hold a 20% or greater interest in the franchise.

No, specific restaurant experience is not needed. Joey's Only / Tennessee Jack's looks for individuals with an understanding of general business principles, a satisfactory financial rating, and the ability to invest in and support a restaurant.
When an application is approved for a Joey's Only / Tennessee Jack's franchise the applicant obtains an available territory and the franchise agreement is signed for that territory. Upon approval of the location and the building plans, construction begins. Equipment purchasing, license agreements and other finishing details will be ongoing during the five week training program. The last step will be on-site training of your personnel with our qualified support staff.
Once an application is received the Franchise Development Department carefully reviews the information and interviews the prospective Franchisee. An approval is usually granted based on the information received within a few business days.
The term of the Franchise License Agreement is ten (10) years with a ten (10) year renewal option.
We strongly recommend that you receive legal counseling to completely understand your obligations to owning a business.
Currently, territories are protected by a 3km radius for Full size restaurants, although Food Courts are allowed in enclosed malls within that radius.

You are required to make the following payments on an ongoing basis during the term of the Franchise agreement:
- Monthly royalty fee of 4.5% of gross sales.
- Monthly advertising fee of 2% of gross sales.
We recommend you have at least 40% of the opening cost in liquid assets to apply toward the purchase of the franchise package. The balance of the franchise package cost can usually be financed through various lending programs of any chartered bank, subject to fulfillment of their usual credit requirements.

Yes, new franchisees are put through an intensive 5 week training program at our Corporate restaurant in Calgary, Alberta. Here you will learn the complete Joey's Only operating system. Learning everything from the POS (Point of Sale) system and running management reports to the entire kitchen opening and closing procedures. This is an intense all-inclusive program that will give you the comfort level and confidence necessary to open and operate your new restaurant.
Up to three Joey's Only Operation specialists will be available on site for up to two weeks to ensure the smooth opening of your new franchise. Operations representatives will also be available for the ongoing support. Their expert operational skills in running a Joey's Only will assist you in learning how to operate an efficient outlet.
Joey's Only has tremendous Operational Support. Regional managers regularly inspect each location and speak regularly with franchisees to assist with the operation of their restaurants. Ongoing training, regular regional meetings, supplier seminars, research and development, and various marketing efforts all contribute to the sustained quality of Joey's Only / Tennessee Jack's franchises.
